Bulgaria , officially the Republic of Bulgaria
(Bulgarian: is a country in Southeastern Europe. It borders the
Black Sea to the east, Greece and Turkey to the south, Serbia and
the Republic of Macedonia to the west, and Romania to the north,
mostly along the Danube.
Founded in 681 and thus one of the oldest countries in Europe,
Bulgaria is noted for not having ever changed its name through
the ages. Today, the country is an active member of NATO, and
is also due to join the European Union on January 1, 2007. |
